Our Vision Lights Up the Future: Our 20th Sustainability Report

We are proud to have presented today, at the National Museum of Science and Technology “Leonardo da Vinci” in Milan, our 20th Sustainability Report. A significant milestone, marking twenty years of real commitment to building an industrial model where innovation, responsibility, and care for people and the planet move forward together.

We chose the title “Our Vision Lights Up the Future” because we believe that only a clear and shared vision can guide us over time, even in complex scenarios. Our journey began long before sustainability became a global priority: today more than ever, we continue to invest in creating shared value, convinced that businesses play a key role in building a fairer and regenerative future.

During the presentation, moderated by Tessa Gelisio, we had the pleasure of engaging with experts and partners such as Daniela Bernacchi (UN Global Compact Network Italy), Valentina Polizzi (Save the Children Italy), Ilaria Stellino (ING Wholesale Banking), our CEO Francesco Pasquini, and our Sustainability Manager Michele Noera. As a special guest the explorer Alex Bellini shared his experience on the relationship between humans and the environment.

A Year of Major Achievements

2024 was a pivotal year for Lucart, marking the transition from the second to the third generation of the Pasquini family with the appointment of Francesco Pasquini as CEO and the entry of Azzurra Capital into the share capital of our holding company. We reached a turnover of €685 million and are ready to further accelerate our international growth to strengthen our European leadership in recycled tissue paper and sustainable hygiene products.

The real value lies in the tangible sustainability results we have achieved:

- We sent for recovery more than 90% of the produced waste, achieving in advance our 2030 target.

- All our plants are now certified to ISO 45001, confirming our commitment to occupational health and safety.

- We reduced CO₂ emissions to 387.53 kg per ton of paper produced and converted, a -3.43% improvement compared to 2023.

- Our specific water consumption dropped to 9.43 m³/ton of paper produced (-26.8% compared to 2013), getting closer to the 2025 target of 9.40. Specific energy consumption also continues to decrease (-2.2% vs 2023).

- 100% of our packaging is recyclable or compostable, and 82% of our packaging contains over 30% recycled material.

For the third consecutive year, we received the Platinum certification from Ecovadis, ranking among the top 1% of the world’s most sustainable companies.

This twentieth Report,” said Francesco Pasquini, CEO of Lucart, “is not just an account of our performance, but a key milestone in a long journey made of courage, consistency, and vision. Over these twenty years, we have built an innovative and sustainable industrial model that combines quality, competitiveness, and care for the environment and people. Today, with Azzurra Capital joining the holding’s capital, we have new resources and a renewed governance that will allow us to accelerate international development while remaining true to our values. The challenges are many, but we are ready to face them with the strength of those who have a clear direction: to create shared value for all our stakeholders.”
