Sustainable development goals<\/h1>\n

On 25 September 2015, the General Assembly of the United Nations approved the Sustainable Development Agenda, which contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) valid for the period 2016 – 2030
\nThe SDGs represent the most concrete path for the construction of a more inclusive, fairer world that respects the environment.<\/p>\n

Our sustainability strategy fits perfectly in the action framework set out in the SDGs.
\nFollowing an internal reflection process to identify the Company\u2019s contribution towards attaining the 17 goals, we selected the following priority objectives:<\/p>\n

3 <\/span> Good health and well-being<\/div>
The actions that we implement daily to manufacture products that are safe for our people and for the environment place great importance on the health and well-being of people and environment. We place great emphasis on personnel training, on the choice of equipment and systems and on organisation; all of which form the base for guaranteeing occupational health and safety.<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t<\/div>

4 <\/span> Quality education<\/div>
We invest in high-quality, fair and inclusive education to improve people's lives. We are convinced that only active collaboration between businesses and citizens can guarantee the development of a sustainable society. Our products must inspire consumers to a conscious and sustainable lifestyle. We support the universities and scientific research through partnerships, such as the one with the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, the University of Pisa and the Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa.<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t<\/div>

6 <\/span> Clean water and sanitation <\/div>
Water is precious and of limited availability. The paper manufacturing process requires large quantities of water; this is why we are aware of the fact that the use of this resource for industrial purposes must be responsible and must guarantee minimal consumption and the quality and cleanliness of water at the end of the production process. We perform constant controls on process water and on wastewater and invest in the best technologies to reduce consumption.<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t<\/div>

7 <\/span> Affordable and clean energy<\/div>
The production of paper requires high energy consumption levels. That is why, since the 1980s, we have decided to invest in the most sophisticated technologies to generate the electricity, heat and steam to be used in the production process. The technology that best fits the sector - and can guarantee the highest levels of efficiency, production consistency, and the reduction of emissions - is use of methane turbines in cogeneration. Where possible and where that is consistent with the energy needs of the production plants, we also use solar power systems.<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t<\/div>

12 <\/span> Responsible consumption and production<\/div>
Through research and the constant innovation of processes, products and business models, we have always wanted to be ahead of its time and offer technologies and paper able to improve the life of its workers and consumers, with respect for the environment. It is no chance that we were the first company in Italy to launch a line of hygiene products made from recycled paper and with biodegradable packaging made from Mater-Bi.<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t<\/div>

13 <\/span> Climate action<\/div>
Climate change is probably the most serious threat we must currently face. We have put in place plans to reduce its CO2<\/sub> emissions per tonne of paper produced. The choice to prioritise the production of recycled paper has distinct advantages for the environment, in that it reduces CO2<\/sub> emissions by approximately 16% per quantity of paper produced.<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t<\/div>

15 <\/span> Life on land<\/div>
The Earth ecosystem must be protected and we must safeguard the finite resources that we use. This is why we thoroughly assess the sustainability of the raw materials we use, be they virgin fibre or paper for recycling. All the cellulose we use originates from forests with a custody chain certified by certification schemes such as FSC\u00ae<\/sup> and PEFC\u2122. The use of paper for recycling for the production of tissue paper reduces recourse to cellulose extracted from wood and contributes towards safeguarding biodiversity.<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t\t<\/div>\n\t \t\t<\/div>

17 <\/span> Partnership for the goals<\/div>
We are fully committed to the application of circular business models. Therefore, we favour long-term partnerships with bodies, agencies and institutions that share our values and goals.
